Tyson Rettie – Owner and Operations Manager

Tyson Rettie is a Canadian Ski Guide Association Level 3 guide and Professional Member of the Canadian Avalanche Association. His experience in the avalanche industry spans multiple continents and industry sectors. In addition to owning and operating Altura Mountain Adventures, Tyson is the President of Braille Mountain Initiative, a charity that provides ski touring trips for blind/vision impaired skiers.

Jordy Shepherd – Lead Guide

Jordy is an internationally certified ACMG Mountain Guide, guide trainer, an avalanche educator, rescue specialist, and a former National Park Warden and Visitor Safety Specialist.  He is a team member, and assists with training of, Columbia Valley Search and Rescue. 

Jordy was on the ACMG Board of Directors for more than a decade as the Rockies Director.  He founded the ACMG Mentorship and Public Engagement and Services Committees. 

His work experience includes Canadian Avalanche Association Course Leader and Subject Matter Expert for Avalanche Search and Rescue Advanced Skills, Provincial Park Ranger, National Park Warden, Wildlife Conflict Specialist, Wildland and Structural Firefighter, Mountain and Industrial Rescue Specialist, and Heli-skiing Operations Manager and Lead Guide.

In addition to all of his work in the adventure guiding and instruction industry, Jordy runs a successful real estate company. Jordy currently splits his time between Invermere BC and Canmore AB.
